Vault Zafra is a study of architecture created in 1978, whose main activity concentrates, after many years of work and investigation, in the restoration and architectonic rehabilitation. The object of these studies has been, essentially, the masonry structures, which confers very specific knowledge to us on vaults, archs and domes.
The human staff of Vault Zafra SLP are professionals specialized in the different areas from activity of the company, commanded and managed by Manuel Fortea Luna, expert at world-wide level in vaulted structures even it, as much by their numerous publications as by their ample educational activity
For all that, the activity that develops Vault Zafra SLP, and therefore the services that we offer, includes analysis, calculation and diagnoses of domed existing structures, as well as calculation and design of new construction, research, publications and educational formation.
Degree in Architecture with a specialization in Urban Planning; obtains the title in 1978 in Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla.

The vaulted construction satisfies amply the current demands as soon as sustainability. This constructive technique lives together with the high own technology of the current times, giving as a result a product of highly energy, functional, and economic benefits.

The vaults, with the breasts backfill, they represent a great thermal isolation set against other structural systems, independently of the material with the one that be filled, by the quantity of mass that they represent.
Even enlarges the thermal isolation in function of the number of leaves by the ones that be constituted and of the thickness of these.
Likewise, the vaults represent a great acoustic isolation set against other structural systems, for two reasons. In the first place, because the vault is composed by elements discontínuos that complicate the propagation of the sound waves, and especially, them produced by impact. In second place, by the quantity of mass, that is always greater that any another structural system.
Environmental study of the brick vault:
The construction of a square meter of vault blocked has a price energy total of 79.99 Kwh., an emission of 22.35 Kg of CO2., and a generation of residues CER (European Catalogue of Residues) of 0,009 m3.
The construction of a square meter of forged of joists of concrete and ceramics has a price energy total of 255.77 Kwh., an emission of 82.76 Kg of CO2., and a generation of residues CER (European Catalogue of Residues) of 0,011 m3.
The construction of a square meter of brick vault with respect a square meter of forged of joists of concrete and ceramics has an energy price of the 31,27%, an emission of Kg of CO2 of the 27,01%, and a generation residues CER (European Catalogue of Residues) in volume of the 81,82%.
The life of a building finishes with its demolition, generating residues. The vaulted structures, in its dismantling, they generate a residue almost nil, in as much as that the bricks are reusable, and the remainder of the material (lime and land) return to its natural origin without need of handling or transformation.
